Readers & Reviewers

Every year the judges of the Crime Writers’ Association have the great privilege of reading hundreds of entries for our prestigious Dagger Awards – and Dagger Reads showcases the very best of the books we’ve encountered.
We invite you, the avid crime reader, to take a closer look at the Dagger Award contenders and learn more about the books and authors. We also invite you to read the opinions of others and to share your own by leaving reviews.
Links to where the books can be bought appear on the relevant page if you’d like to buy a copy.

New Competition Open Now

Reviews submitted to the site will be entered into the new Dagger Review competition.
Just find the books shortlisted for each 2017 Dagger and write and submit your review of any title.
For the Dagger in the Library and the Diamond Dagger, where the authors star rather than the books, feel free to write a review of any of those authors’ books.

You may submit as many reviews as you like, but no more than one for each title, please.

The reviews will be moderated and posted to the website providing they are literate, non-abusive and contain no spoilers!

If you’d like to write a review but not enter the competition, no problem. Just indicate this with a note at the top of your review.

The prize for the best review, as judged by the CWA, is a full weekend pass for CrimeFest 2018 (event only; no accommodation, meals or travel) and a copy of both the new CrimeFest and CWA anthologies.

The Dagger Review competition has been extended until midnight on 14 March and the reviews will remain on the website for another few weeks. The competition winner will be informed during March.

So get reading and reviewing – and good luck!
